If you want to check out a website that has many innovative products for the professional electrician or for the home electrical DIYer, Rack-a-Tiers is the place to visit. Several years ago, two Vancouver Island electricians had a vision of a better way to do their job. Their first invention was the Rack-A-Tier, a two piece set of wire spooling stands that have many diverse uses within the trade, around the jobsite, or around the home.
Back when I owned Olds Electric & Lighting, the first time I was introduced to the product I bought a set for the company. They were so popular amongst the crews that they began hiding them in their work vans to have for themselves instead of sharing as I had planned. I soon realized that every van needed a set of Rack-A-Tiers. I’m not sure why I didn’t just buy several sets right from the start, as the cost of them was insignificant compared to the usefulness of the item.
Rack-A-Tiers has expanded to a catalogue of hundreds of items; some of Rack-A-Tiers own inventions, others from creative electricians everywhere. Check out the available products, and download the new catalogue at www.rack-a-tiers.com
One of the products available from the distributors for Rack-A-Tiers is a tool called the Staple Shark. If you’ve ever tried to remove a staple that is firmly embedded in place, then you know how difficult a task that can prove to be. A screwdriver is usually too thick or wide, and isn’t supposed to be used for prying, and a pair of pliers can prove difficult as well if you can’t get under the staple, or get a grip on it firmly enough to pull the staple out. And to make things more difficult, if using the tool to remove staples that are fastening electrical cables, try and remove the staple without damaging the cable in the process.
Staple Shark to the rescue! The Staple Shark is a staple pulling tool, and so much more. The handy features that this tool boasts are:
-staple puller / removal tool
-ruler / measuring device
-pry bar
-nail puller
-carpenter’s square
-and a bottle opener, for that coveted cold beer at the end of a hard day at work!
In this tool review video, I’ll put all these claims to the test!
