Testimonials

Great help on a 3-Way wiring diagram from your website.  Much appreciated, as I have had the same 3 Way switch, non-operational, for over 5 years.. arghhh...I know it is a simple thing yet looking at both sets of wires and trying to imagine the wire runs was a bit aggravating but you made it simpler!

Your website is great.  I have it bookmarked and now visit frequently.  I have no previous electrical experience and your website helped me redo some wiring correctly and way easier than I thought it would be.

Thanks again.

Hi Terry,

I stumbled onto your website while doing a Google search for an electrical panel that's being installed in my new home that's currently being built.

Even though I've been doing my own electrical work for many years (I am not a contractor), I found your site to be a  valuable resource of information for all things electrical. Your site is much appreciated. Thank you.

Internet Electrician E-Book Project Series:
Wiring a Backup Generator

The need for a backup system to power your home is a reality in many parts of the country.  Harsh winter storms and hurricanes can play havoc with utility systems across entire states and parts of the country - leaving you without power for days and even weeks!  Don't leave yourself and your family unprepared.

However, this is one of those electrical projects that MUST be done correctly, as there are critical safety issues that have to be addressed.  And, as I stress through our website - safety first

There have been many dangerous and illegal shortcuts inadvertently performed by people attempting to set up backup systems for their home, and it is my intent to ensure that these dangerous practices are avoided.

In my new e-book, I outline three different options for providing a safe backup system for your home:

1.      Installing a transfer switch sub-panel

2.      Installation of a full service transfer switch

3.      Automatic Transfer Switch

I'll review the pros and cons of each different system, so that you can confidently select a backup system that will work for your home.

In follow up books, I'll provide complete instructions, diagrams and photos of the step-by-step installation process for each of the three different backup systems
